 Abstract:  Holographic manuscript of a short story written by Dinah Maria Craik, in Beckenham, Kent. Written in ink, it contains her edits. The plot consists of a schoolmaster and his sister discussing their favorite pupil with a visitor.

The manuscript starts with chapter 20, which corresponds to chapter 21 in the published book. Written in both pen and pencil, it contains her edits. Some duplicate typescript chapters are also present. The novel is about a young woman's love for a soldier, set in England during World War I.

 Abstract:  Handwritten entries for home medicinal cures, food and alcoholic beverage recipes, and household hints. Some have acknowledgements to a certain newspaper or person; occasionally the date obtained is added, ranging from 1787-1808. Among the treatments are some for the plague, dropsy, whooping cough, scarlet fever, scurvy, rheumatism, jaundice, and colic.
